Tobias Brehm is a geologist specialized in mineral exploration and development. He completed his B.Sc. in geosciences at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, Germany in 2009 followed by a M.Sc. in economic geology at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany (completed in 2011/2012). His B.Sc. thesis was a structural analysis of the hydrothermal fluorite-barite-quartz vein of the historic Finstergrund Mine in the southern Black Forest, Germany. His M.Sc. thesis was a comprehensive study of the Detour Lake gold deposit in NE Ontario, Canada. In 2012, he worked for Minconsult Exploration Services based in BC, Canada. Projects included the following:

  • Ryan Gold Corporation´s gold and precious metal reconnaissance, Yukon Territory, Canada
  • Castle Resources´ gold and copper Leduc/Granduc Mine project, Golden Triangle, British Columbia, Canada
  • Green Swan Capital´s Ryliejack gold reconnaissance project, Golden Triangle, British Columbia, Canada
  • Maudore Mineral Ltd.´s Comtois drilling project (gold), Lebel-sur-Quévillon, Québec, Canada
In 2013, Mr. Brehm was involved with several projects of Germany-based exploration companies as a geological consultant. These projects consisted of target generation and historic mine lease evaluations of several different commodities (Bi-Co-Ni-Ag-U, fluorite, barite, Ag-Pb-Zn, Sb-(W)-(Au), Au, Sb, Cu, Fe). In addition, he worked on several projects across Iceland and Greenland including precious and base metals, but also coal. Starting in 2015, he joined a client´s copper porphyry project in New South Wales, Australia, where he carried out an analysis of the historic data. His work included converting scanned paper-based data into GIS data, evaluating the information and defining further exploration targets. Mr. Brehm also works as expedition leader and guide in both Polar Regions (The Arctic and Antarctica). Tasks include land-based guiding, small boat operation (Zodiacs), lecturing and polar bear safety (firearms). He has since travelled the Arctic (Svalbard and Greenland), Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula extensively. During this work, he also managed to land on the South Sandwich Islands. Since 2015, Mr. Brehm is also working on a porphyry project in the US.

Testimonials / Recommendations

"I have worked with Tobias repeatedly on a variety of projects during his University time and in the international exploration and mining industry. Tobi has always completed the tasks and duties assigned to him to a maximum desirable degree of precision and usually exceeded expectation by walking the extra mile. He has a great work attitude and an exceptional technical knowledge related to ore deposit geology and exploration. His wide range of experience and team-leadership skills will add immediate value to any green- or brownfields exploration project. Tobi gets my highest recommendations and I look forward to working with him on future projects."
P. Geerdts, Senior Geologist at Force Consulting

"I met Toby through his work with MinConsult, when I hired them to map project areas in the Yukon. I was immediately impressed by his knowledge, enthusiasm and stamina in the field. Although I put him into very different geological terrains, his ability to adapt and successfully map the ground was astonishing. He has a caring and engaging attitude that is well received by other staff and managers alike, and I am extremely happy to see him setting up his own consulting business. Although German is his native tongue, his English is excellent, including technical writing. I keep close contact with Toby and truly hope that someday we will be able to collaborate on projects together."
A. Randell (PGeo), Principal Geologist at Strata GeoData Services

"Tobias had shown strong work ethic in his pursuit of his Master´s Degree during his time onsite at Detour Gold. Together, along with senior staff, Tobias was able to formulate a solid proposal that would be of significant benefit to the Exploration Department. His grasp on spatial distribution, sulphide mineralization, and the structural control of the sheeted vein systems allowed for a broader understanding of the lithological, structural and mineralogical control of the Detour Lake deposit. Tobias was able to complete, on time, his Master´s thesis as well as reporting significant findings to the exploration team. It was a pleasure to work with Tobias and I would definitely recommend his work."
J. Fars (PGeo), Geological Consultant

"In 2010 and 2011 Tobias completed his MSc in Economic Geology at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany. His postgraduate research project was concerned with the structural, geological and geometallurgical characteristics of the Detour Lake gold deposit, a multi-million ounce gold deposit in NE Ontario, Canada that is currently developed by the Detour Gold Corporation. Tobias conducted this multifaceted research project that carried a strong field component with great enthusiasm and very little supervision. The result is a great set of data for this deposit and a convincing metallogenetic model."
Prof. J. Gutzmer, Director at Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology
